League of Women Voters of the United States
The League of Women Voters encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
- Mission: Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.
- Vision: We envision a democracy where every person has the desire, the right, the knowledge, and the confidence to participate.
- Value: We believe in the power of women to create a more perfect democracy.
The League of Women Voters of Howard County is committed to improving local government by making the processes of decision making more transparent, and including more options for community engagement.
We work to maintain a system in which the community is well informed and their voices well heard before a decision is made.
We advocate on a number of topics covering land use and zoning, social issues, and government processes so that we can preserve what makes Howard County special, and move forward in a way that maintains our unique personality.
The League is open to anyone 18 or older and is a great way to get involved in your community. We’d love new members at all levels of involvement: Board Directors, Committee Members, People to help plan events, or to help advertise and promote the work we’re doing. Get involved today!
LWV is an organization fully committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in principle and in practice. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the organization’s current and future success in engaging all individuals, households, communities, and policy makers in creating a more perfect democracy.
