8/28 Sat  National March on for Voting Rights, a nationwide mobilization to demand that elected official stop hijacking democracy, denounce voter suppression and ensure far, easy access to the vote for all.  Voting rights advocates and activities (that’s us, folks!) will March On to mark the 58th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic March on Washington and historic I have a Dream speech to demand that his vision be deferred no longer.

When: 28 August 10:00 am to 5:00 pm???
Where:  Starting point currently Freedom Plaza - watch for notice of changes
Why:  Our mission is to Empower Voters and Defend Democracy!  We need to be front and center defending Voting Rights now just as we have been for the last 101+ years.  I fear we are at a point of danger for our democracy and it is incumbent on us as members of the League to Not give up! Speak up! Stand up! and make sure we can go to bed each night knowing that we did what we could.   We can all see how fragile democracy can be.  Let’s get our democracy off the life-support system that is currently holding us together by a thread and make sure our children and grandchildren have a country where each person’s participation is valued and each has free and open access to the ballot box.
Wear your League of Women Voters Gear!  Virgina Kase, LWVUS CEO, and Dr Deb Turner, LWVUS President will be speaking, among others.
