HB 596/SB783 Constitutional Amendment for Environmental Human Rights

Date: February 14, 2022

The League of Women Voters  is a nonpartisan organization that works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influence public policy through education and advocacy. The League of Women Voters of the United States believes that the overall goal of Natural Resources policy should be to “promote an environment beneficial to life through the protection and wise management of natural resources in the public interest.” The League also believes that the overarching goal of Social Policy should be to “secure equal rights and equal opportunity for all, and to promote social and economic justice and the health and safety of all Americans.”

The League of Women Voters of Howard County believes that all current and future residents of Maryland deserve the benefits of having clean air, land, and water, free from toxic chemicals and environmental pollutants. The natural ecosystems around us sustain all  life and provide much economic benefit to the citizens of Maryland.

Therefore, the League of Women Voters of Howard County enthusiastically supports and urges all of you to vote in favor of the Environmental Human Rights Amendment.

Thank you,

Krista Threefoot, President
